Using advanced algorithms, Grip recommends the right people and presents them on an easy-to-use swiping interface.

The Grip app empowers users to make valuable connections thanks to our advanced artificial intelligence. We determined to resolve the constant problems we had when networking online, where your network has become nothing more than a long list of connections. And offline at events, where we often miss out on the most interesting connections in the room.

Intros.at

Intros is a funded startup that was started in 2015 by serial entrepreneurs including Brent Hoberman (founder of Lastminute.com and Made.com), Henry Lane Fox and backed by world-class investors. Intros worked together with Reed Exhibitions and Founders Forum to deliver artificial intelligence powered suggested people to meet at the event.


Grip

Grip was started by Andreas Rasmussen, Daniel Bæk (Managing Partners at Nodes) and Tim Groot in 2014. With backing from the leading user experience design agency, Hello Group and advertising agency AdTomic. Grip was covered by Techcrunch, Wired and the LA Times as well as used by leading events including World Economic Forum, Slush and Uprise Festival.


Joining Forces

In January 2016, Intros acquired Grip and Tim Groot joined the Intros team in London. Where Intros had built an amazing recommendation engine, Grip focused on developing easy-to-use mobile apps. Together, the companies are the first artificial intelligence powered event networking solution that aims to empower event organizers to create better event experiences and help attendees achieve their networking potential.

Luke Baker

Business Development Lead

Luke’s career started on Wall Street with Deutsche Bank in 2008 as a Technology Program Manager. His career later took him to BlackRock where he held multiple roles including Business Manager to the firms European fixed income iShares business. His passion for Impact Investment and agriculture then led him to founding Europe’s first sustainable agriculture crowd funding platform. He is a keen cyclist and can often be found plugged into his Spotify playlists.

Senior Software Engineer

For her dissertation she made a self-learning obstacle-avoiding mobile robot, Ania is an experienced developer with a strong interest in machine learning, scalable solutions, and clean code. Ania holds a BSc in Computer Science with AI from City University London and in her free-time you can find her playing drums in bands around London.

Pablo is passionate about innovation and problem solving. This led him to publish two papers on Evolutionary Algorithms and several cutting edge Android games. Pablo holds a BA in Computer Science and a Master in Computer Engineering from the University of A Coruña. In his free time, you can find Pablo playing basketball, reading a book or watching sports.

Graduated from the leading advertising university in the UK – Jack is creative with a marketing flair. He is overseeing all the marketing for Grip, when not thinking of innovative solutions for Grip, Jack enjoys skiing, running and spending time with his family.

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Starting his first company at age 17 – Tim is an entrepreneur at heart with a passion for creating awesome products. Tim co-founded Grip in 2014 and became the Chief Executive Officer after Grip and Intros joined forces. When not pushing pixels and creating tickets for devs you can find him in the best burger places of London or reading a good book.

Tommy is an experienced UI/UX and mobile/web developer with a sharp eye for pixel-perfect design, a great user experience and a clean maintainable codebase. Tommy loves to challenge and push the newest technologies and trends, to create the best possible product. Tommy holds a Master of Arts degree in Information Science, and in his spare time loves mountain biking and travelling.

Ivan is a seasoned tech veteran who’s earned his engineering chops at Silicon Valley’s oldest web company Yahoo. He has been involved in pretty much everything from the good old days of the desktop web, through to mobile app technologies, social platforms as well as search and advertising revenue systems. More recently, Ivan has gone back to school and completed a Masters in Intelligent Systems at King’s College London.

Project Manager

Maria has an international background having worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade. She holds a Master in Hospitality Management and it is also qualified in Digital Marketing, Project Management and Business Analysis. In her spare time she enjoys dancing flamenco and learning new languages.

Deb Siddiqi

Copywriter

Deb has variously been a Yahoo! Search Editorial lead, an English teacher, features journalist, and defence policy analyst. A fascination with the intersection between humans and technology led to a Distinction in New Media sociology from the London School of Economics, where she enjoyed her thesis on the authenticity of Britney Spears’ online fans. Her current challenges involve not tiger-mothering her kids through their lives.
